We have quite recently been looking at apartments. We found several, and the first one, with the lowest rent, was looking awesome, but at our application appointment, it turns out we make entirely TOO MUCH money to qualify (it's low income housing, you see,), so we were sort of denied.
The second and third places we had already closed their offices for the day (at three PM on a Friday,) so we went to the fourth place, and, like, wow. The apartment is adorable, has two bedrooms, one and 1/2 bathrooms, and a washer and dryer in the unit, not to mention a really large patio area, fluffy cream coloured carpets and a fucking BREAKFAST NOOK. Also the rent is entirely liveable. So we go through the application process again, and things are looking good, and we are about to sign the lease and move in Sunday, until it turns out that we are denied AGAIN because Kingland has no credit.
Basically it goes down like this: They want tennants of the apartment to make at least double the rent, and while we definately do that with our combined incomes, I am the only one with credit (squeaky clean credit, too, mind you,), but I don't make twice the rent on my own. So basically what I am saying here, guys, is we are FUCKED until we find someone to cosign.
Kingland's father is only too happy to oblige, but he is trying to refinance his house, and believes that cosigning with us on our appartment might hurt his chances. My parents are out of state and therefore are probably not eligible to cosign. This is lame, guys. Very very lame.
